Speaker: Lindsay Schwantes, Community Engagement Program Manager at Capitol Region Watershed District
Lindsay joined CRWD in 2012. Lindsay holds a B.S. in Environmental Science, Policy and Management from the University of Minnesota. She manages the District’s Partner Grant program, Minnesota Water Stewards and Adopt a Drain programs and outreach work with community, youth and partner groups.

Speaker: Brandon Miller, Assistant Professor in the Dept of Horticultural Science at the U of M
Topic: Replacements for Invasives
Brandon received both his BS and MS degrees in horticulture from Iowa State University. He received his PhD from Cornell University where he conducted research on hickories with the Urban Horticulture Institute. His research and Extension programs aim to support the introduction of novel nursery crops and underutilized landscape selections for use in Minnesota.

Ever wonder what makes the lily one of the most popular garden flowers? Denise Haldorson will provide a background on lilies, their divisions, growing needs and planting tips. Additionally, Denise is an accredited lily judge through the North American Lily Society. She and her husband Karl owned and operated K&D Gardens from 2019-2024.
